Linptech builds greener smart home products using Atmosic’s award-winning solutions

By Nick Dutton, Senior Director of Product Marketing

Driven by the increasing consumer adoption of smart home products, the smart home industry has entered a new phase of rapid growth, becoming one of the most promising segments in the IoT. Continued innovation in the smart home will rely on mature wireless connectivity technologies and lower-power chip designs.

Linptech, a high-tech enterprise founded at the Huazhong University of Science and Technology, provides products, modules, and solutions for smart homes and smart buildings by leveraging micro-energy harvesting and kinetic energy harvesting technologies. Linptech’s proprietary Kinetic Self-Powered Wireless Switch provides a flexible and reliable switch design that is easy to use and install.

To accelerate Lintech’s innovation in the smart home, Lintech has collaborated with Atmosic, an innovative fabless semiconductor company that designs ultra-low power wireless and energy harvesting solutions. Atmosic’s mission is to dramatically reduce and disrupt devices’ dependency on batteries to help eliminate the environmental impact of battery waste. Integrating Atmosic’s Bluetooth LE solution, Linptech’s wireless switch delivers a “green + smart” approach for smart home products.

Reduce Power Consumption by 30% with Atmosic’s ATM2 Solution

Atmosic’s ATM2 SoC solutions are fully Bluetooth® 5 compliant. With the ultra-low-power RF and on-demand wakeup technology, the ATM2 series products are ideal for a wide range of applications such as wearables, personal asset trackers, beacons, remote controls, positioning devices, keyboards, and mice. The ATM2 portfolio is available in integrated flash and external flash versions with 5×5 QFN, 6×6 DRQFN and 7×7 QFN package options.

“With Atmosic’s ATM2 Bluetooth solutions, the power consumption of Linptech’s self-powered products is reduced by 30%. Additionally, the battery life in our battery-based remote controls has increased 4X. Along with its power savings benefits, ATM2 is very cost-effective and has reduced our time-to-market, making it ideal for our smart home products,” said Jiao Yun, Member of the Board and Marketing Director for Linptech.

Prior to integrating Bluetooth technology, Linptech’s wireless solution was a more restricted RF solution operating at 433Mhz. As more IoT platforms adopt Bluetooth technology, Bluetooth has become the new standard communication protocol, delivering an optimal balance of reliable connectivity and interoperability. Bluetooth has become especially important for the smart home industry.

Bluetooth is now the first choice for future solutions from Linptech. The company will actively promote the wide adoption of Bluetooth and is progressively migrating other products powered by the 433Mhz wireless solution to Atmosic’s Bluetooth solutions.

“We are proud to work with Atmosic. Atmosic’s global team has a unique vision and brings unparalleled expertise in low-power wireless design. With the company’s extensive experience and deep expertise, Atmosic provided fast and reliable support to us as we worked to achieve the desired result for our final product,” said Jiao Yun.

“We are excited to see the widespread adoption of Bluetooth technology in the smart home market. With our ultra-low power Bluetooth solutions, Atmosic is working to eliminate the power barriers that have held back the growth of the IoT. This year and beyond, we will continue to build out our portfolio as we work to reduce the cost of battery maintenance and the environmental impact that battery waste has on our planet,” said Srinivas Pattamatta, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Atmosic.

Future Cooperation

In the future, Linptech will continue to expand its portfolio in the smart home market – from switch products to sensors, intelligent lighting, and more – with a greater emphasis on the use of energy harvesting technologies. Energy harvesting technology helps to significantly extend the battery life of connected devices, and can even enable devices to operate totally battery-free. A popular option for connected devices is a mechanical approach that converts kinetic energy into electrical energy through a push-type generator that powers a circuit to transmit wireless signals, eliminating the need for an external power source. Linptech is also evaluating products that leverage energy from light or motion. Since these products require low power consumption and high efficiency energy harvesting. Atmosic’s Bluetooth wireless connectivity solutions will play a key role in expanding Linptech’s product suite.
